THE GENTLEMEN'S CLUB: SUMMER STYLE GUIDE
For the fellow who’s style aesthetic can be described as an “urban gentleman,” this one’s for you. The one who loves rocking sneaks but can also be spotted in a dapper pair of vintage-inspired loafers from time to time. Or if you’ve been wanting to revamp your style a bit, this summer grants you the perfect opportunity to have a style upgrade.
These days, being fashion savvy is no longer a trait exclusively associated with the ladies. Though the term “metrosexual” received a few side eyes in its inception just a few years ago, the fact remains that many men are now perceiving style as much more than throwing together jeans and a t-shirt–so sayonara to that “it doesn’t match but it’s clean” mentality. Many fellows, both young and old, are becoming fashion authorities and cultivators of a lifestyle that is urban yet upscale. Some sneakerheads unknowingly fall into this metro men category by definition of the World English Dictionary, which plainly describes them as those who “spend a lot of time and money” on their appearance. But whether the term is embraced or pushed aside, it’s clear that the face of fashion has changed and now men are more on the forefront of the style scene. With this in mind, we wanted to give a different take on a summer style guide, one that caters to the professional working a 9 to 5, the college scholar or high school student. No matter where one falls in these categories, here’s some tips on how you can look fly this summer–with some Shiekh shoe game, of course.
This summer, lightweight suits are the perfect way to look gentleman-like and beat the blazing heat. If you’re not the suit and tie type, an airy blazer paired with denim will do. Either way you wear this trendy look, sport a classic white button-down shirt underneath and you’re almost there–add a printed tie or pocket square for a fancy feel.
For guys that like to keep it cool yet casual, minimalism is key. Go with a breezy button-down–covered in stripes or a funky graphic print–and pair it with chinos or cargo shorts. Add a straw hat up top and some neutral-colored lace-up kicks to complete your laid-back ensemble.
If t-shirts and jeans are more your steeze, change it up a bit by rocking all white and adding hints of color by sporting a dope snapback cap, denim jacket and camo sneakers. Being matchy-matchy isn’t all that necessary; this look is all about standing apart from the norm by wearing classic pieces in a modern way.
